IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’RE EXPERIENCING A Mental Health Crisis, CALL 988
- It’s important to know how to get help during a mental health crisis. A national network of crisis centers is available 24/7 if you or a loved one experience suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, or substance use-related crisis.
- In New York, dial 988 to be connected to the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential help. You can also reach a crisis center by texting 988 or chatting at 988lifeline.org.
- Veterans can text the Veterans Crisis Lifeline at 838255 or select “1” when calling 988.
- The same mental health support services are available by calling NYC WELL (888-692-9355) or texting “WELL” to 65173. Use this number if you live in NYC but have a phone number with a different area code. You will be connected with your local crisis center.”
