Since 1959, the Cooper Square Committee has been an advocate for low income residents of the Lower East Side. We work to preserve rent regulated housing, prevent evictions, and assist tenants with obtaining needed repairs. We have sponsored the development and renovation of over 500 low income housing units, and have prevented the displacement of countless low income households.
